‘Twas the night before Paddle Georgia
And all thru the farm, On Every face a smile,
Though it was quite warm
The mountain of tshirts, all folded with care,
In hopes that Joe Cook would find one to wear.
The campers were chatting all catching up with friends, While here on day one we are 106 miles from end.
And Dana and Gwyneth, and some college interns, We all settled in for a week, not yet sunburned.
When all through the farm there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my tent to see what was the matter.

Now Etowah, Now Oconee, Now Ocmulgee, now Flint, Now Broad, Now Savannah, Now Altamaha, Now Hooch
To the top of the river, to the takeout below,
Paddle away, paddle away, paddle away Joe!
Day one is always a fun one, more like a family reunion than a week of river-loving. Seeing families, friends, paddling partners of all kinds come together under one roof in support of our rivers is an amazing sight.

Groups such as Adopt-a-Stream, the teachers, as well as the Camp Horizon youth program paddlers will be making the trek downstream this week.
All Paddlers are looking forward to exploring the Etowah, mile by mile, starting bright and early at 7am tomorrow. Here’s to making more memories, y’all!
